Petitgrain essential oil is derived from the leaves and twigs of the bitter orange tree, scientifically known as Citrus aurantium. This oil has a rich history and a distinctive plant description.

  • The fruit of Citrus aurantium, known as bitter oranges, are small, green, and very sour. They are not typically eaten fresh but are used to make marmalades and liqueurs.

  • Citrus aurantium is native to Southeast Asia, but it has been cultivated in various parts of the world with suitable climates, including the Mediterranean region and parts of the Americas.

  1. Diffusion:  Use three to four drops in the diffuser of your choice. 

  2. Internal: Dilute one drop in 4 fl. oz. of liquid.
